Summer: Week 9

We had a busy week.  It started Sunday, celebrating Frankie's birthday and going to Lost Island.  It was a great day because it was so hot.  Monday, was my birthday.  I had such a nice day with cards, flowers, homemade peach pie (by Ed), presents, out to lunch with my family and fun celebration.  We also spent Monday and Tuesday morning getting ready for fair.  We all worked hard to finish those projects and get them judged on Tuesday.  The kids loved the STEM fair, carpet ball, tractor pulls, animal shows, running around with cousins and friends, the snack bar and the Ag games.  We swapped kids and had fun with Martin for two nights.  Friday night, we continued our Harry Potter a thon and had a glow swim with Aunt Sarah!  Emmeric & Roman won tractor pull for their ages, Toby won the balloon stomp and Max has a poster going to State Fair.  Seriously full and busy week but a fun one.

Summer: Week 8

This week was wonderful and warm.  Sunday, we had the Westendorf reunion at the park.  All of the kids stayed places on Sunday night so Ed and I had a Sam's club and Sakura date.  It was really nice.  Monday Joanna got another tooth pulled.  Emmeric had his final week of summer school.  Wednesday night our church had a park social.  The kids played kick ball and everyone had root beer floats.  Joanna was finally back to tumbling on Thursday and Toby Ninja on Friday.  Saturday was hot, hot, hot so we had a fun glow swim at dusk.  Kids have been busy working on 4-H projects.

Summer: Week 7

This week was a lot of business.  We got to play on Grandma & Grandpa's new carpetball table.  Joanna got a tooth pulled. We had VBS all week, 3 kids attended, 2 helped and it was a blast.  Wednesday, Joanna& Toby went to a 4-H day camp with their cousins.  They had fun even though it was super rainy.  We also had some severe weather Wednesday night which resulted in some quality time in the basement.  Emmeric had week 2 of Summer School.  Perler beads are still going strong.   Eddie was cleared to drive and start physical therapy.  Friday not only did Frankie get to come over but also some mom friends and their kids to swim.  Saturday, we went to the Gilbertville parade and got tons of candy along with seeing some extended family.  We then went to Bart & Katie's for some swim time.

Summer: Week 6

We had a busy week starting with 4th of July.  We set off a bunch at our house with Grandma & Grandpa Schmitz and then headed to Shell Rock to watch their display.  All the kids and Ed saw the dentist this week.  Emmeric started summer school, only 9 times. Emmeric & Toby both smashed fingers in the log splitter.  Toby's did require a trip to urgent care and a soon follow up appointment with the ortho.  He ended up fracturing the tips of 2 fingers.  Thursday we headed down to the Dallas County Fair to see Frankie and family at their fair.  The kids had fun looking at the animals, checking out projects and shows and of course some fair food.  Ed is progressing with his arm, even wearing regular shirts.  I have been preparing for VBS next week including decorating, printing name tags and some various meetings.  On Saturday, Joanna and Amelia went back and forth to each other's houses all day playing and making perler bead earrings.  Joanna also got to ride Wyatt again with Lauren.  She was so happy.  We are ready for a new week full of various appointments and VBS each night.

Summer: Week 5

This week was a lot more calm.  Sunday, the kids got to go to Palmers and do all the stuff.  Fan favorite is the miniature golf, followed close behind go-carts.  Monday we cleaned and had a 4-H meeting.  Joanna gave a presentation on homemade lemonade and Toby gave one on peeler bead art.  They both did great.  Tuesday, Ed had surgery in Waverly on his shoulder.  They repaired two tears and cleaned up some scar tissue.   The surgery went really well but he was in quite a bit of pain for a couple of days.  We are both learning how to navigate the new normal for the next 6 or so weeks.  The kids got to stay the night at Grandma & Grandpa Pavelec's house. 3 kids went fishing and caught some keepers.  Toby & Joanna finished swim lessons this week and passed to the next section.  The rest of the week we spent mostly at our house. Swimming, reading, and just hanging out.  I was able to take the kids to Byrnes pool for fun day on Saturday morning.  Toby & Emmeric went with Papa Steve to catch a few more fish as well.
