First day of preschool

Roman had his first day of preschool on Monday. He was very excited to go to class like the big kids. He will go four days a week for two hours at a time. So far he has enjoyed Miss Mary, snack, and playing outside on the playground.

Summer Week 11

The last week of summer was spent together.  We helped a friend watch her kids one day, we got to hang with some of our cousins the next but mostly we were at home soaking up those last days of freedom before getting back to a routine.  The kids are ready and so are the parents.  After back to school night last night it just made it that much more real that it will be much quieter at our house come Friday.  We love our kids and can't wait to see how they will grow this year!

Summer Week 10

While we did a lot of stuff this week I didn't get a lot of pictures.  The kids played together almost the whole day Monday which was great!  All the kids got hair-cuts.  Thursday, we went to Mason City with Grandma Sherri to see Aunt Sarah. We checked out an awesome park, steam train, flower garden and Music Man square. Friday we had a picnic and headed to Break-Away days for the frog jumping contest.  We did s'mores and fire at our friends the Van Clark's then the three oldest stayed the night there.  They got to see fireworks and basically play all day with them.  Saturday morning, Ed & I and the other two met Grandpa Dan and Grandma Nancy at Morg's for breakfast.  We made in time to see the Denver parade where the kids got way to  much candy!  The  boys headed back to Van Clark's for some lunch and fishing.  Then they came to our house for play and supper.  Sunday after church we swam for the last time this year.  The water was cool but it was still fun.  Sunday night, we laid low and watched a movie.  4 more days of summer break!

State Fair 2019

Monday, we went to the State Fair.  It was a great day full of fun, food, some yelling and a lot of walking.  We hit all the highlights we could in 7 hours.  We even got to see our old neighbor, Alice who just happened to be working the gate we came in.  We spent a lot of time walking with Andy & Whitney.  The kids loved the sky-glider and picking up free stuff.  We all loved the cool robot guy, 3D chalk drawing and seeing things you can only see at the fair.  Emmeric enjoyed a deep-fried snickers, Toby and Joanna had root beer floats, Max loved his mini-donuts and Roman ate all of his cookie dough on a stick.  We were exhausted but our day trip didn't end there.
We traveled 45 minutes out of our way to stop at High Trestle bridge in Madrid.  I have been wanting to see this place forever and we made it happened.  We walked a little over 2 miles to see the bridge all lit up at dusk and bask in the beauty of the Des Moines river.  The kids thought it was amazing and we agreed.  Hope to come back again soon.

Summer Week 9

Week 9 was way more relaxed then previous weeks.  We spent a lot of time at home just hanging out and soaking up those last few days of chill.  Ed finished up drill on Sunday.  We went to the Denver Savings Bank picnic where I got to go in the money booth and won $33.  The boys did the money scramble and got a bunch of change.  Roman broke my coffee pot which was a very sad day, we have yet to get a replacement carafe. We spent the afternoon with our cousins at the Cedar Valley Arboretum.  Everybody loves it there and we had the whole place to ourselves.  We stopped at BK after for slushies.  The TV was on so everyone was memorized.  We had a kickball game, wheeled anything races and movie on the barn on Thursday.  Ed and I each attended one day of the Leadership Summit.  We both enjoyed and learned a few things.  Ed & I finished the puzzle he got me for my birthday.  So hard! Sunday, we had a family reunion on my mom's side and then got to go to Palmer's.  The kids had a blast and came home tried from a hot and busy day!
