Summer: Week 4

 Week four was different.  In the morning we celebrated Eddie for father's day and then I drove Max down to Des Moines for Boys State all week.  It was a different experience for him but he enjoyed meeting new people, making laws, visiting the capitol and getting a small taste of freedom.  I got home from Des Moines and left to take Roman to Pine Lakes camp for the week.  Of course he loved it!  BB guns, sling shot, canoeing, ropes course, zip-lining, fun with friends.  He was very happy to see us Friday morning.  

Toby had a couple of baseball games, Emmeric worked one day and we all had VBS in the evening.  It was a busy and fun time at VBS, seeing people we see infrequently as well as learning about Jesus!  Ed made a fire on one chilly afternoon.  We played a few new games this week, saw the Budweiser Clydesdales at Sturgis Falls. The kids typed a ton of notes on Grandma Verdeen's old typewriter.  After picking up Roman Friday morning we went to Camp Dodge, got new IDs and watched the closing ceremony of Boys State.  It was a long day but glad to be back home as a family.  Satuday, we went to the cabin for a few hours, we fished, shot guns, grilled hot dogs, played in the water and rode the mini-bike.  Even with two kids the days were busy and full!

Summer: Week 3

 Week 3 has come and gone.  We started off Sunday enjoying an afternoon at Lost Island Theme park.  The kids rode some rides, walked around and had fun with each other.  We had lots of baseball this week.  Roman finished up his season, he found a love for pitching and catching.  He learned a lot this season and loved his teammates.  Toby had 4 games. He got a few good hits and a couple outs.  The team has been fun to watch.  The tractorcade came through Denver on Tuesday an we went up and watched.  Lots of neat, old ones in the group. Friday night we made homemade pizzas, had a bonfire and roasted s'mores.  It was good to just be together. We even spotted a rainbow.  Saturday, Eddie took a couple boys to the cabin.  Emmeric caught 4 fish!  We then celebrated Father's day with Steve that evening.  

Summer: Week 2

Week two went fast.  We finished up watching Luna for the week. Toby got a hair cut and a pony keg of root beer.  We had lots of ball games with only 2 getting rained out. The kids went to the pool a few times. We got a ton of rain on Thursday.  We celebrated Max turning 17 with Urban Pie and ice cream. The kids started working on some different projects.  Emmeric and Max both went to work a few days.
